The Southern Drawl Band

[suhthern drawl ] A perceived feature of some varieties of spoken English, generally indicating longer, more relaxed vowel sounds. Varieties of southern drawl are said to be found in, but not limited to, Southern American English, Californian English, and Australian English. It is said to be one of the most distinguishable regional accents within the United States.

Much like its derivative name, Southern Drawl Band is a melting pot of sound, attitude and entertainment. Defined in categories like Country, Southern Rock, Trop Rock, and Bluegrass, Southern Drawl Band attracts a range of listeners from a broad spectrum of music genre and extends no restrictions on a targeted audience. Their unique trait of extraordinary music and song writing, along with impressive entertainment style and unforgettable live performance is what sets this band apart from any other on the market.

One of the most significant attributes of this band is the ability to play for their listeners such a diverse music genre. The members of Southern Drawl Band make every effort to play for their specific audience, whatever age or music preference that entails. As any one person among this growing fan base can confirm, the Southern Drawl Band is on a quick rise to already being a regional household name and are working hard to accomplish the objective of building success “one fan at a time” on a national level.

Southern Drawl Band was formed by lead vocalist and guitarist Mike Nash and drummer Larry Dunsmore in May of 2011. From there, other members Paul Wray (bass), David Crow (Lead Guitar) and J.D. Edge (Violin) have strategically been added to form the band they are today. Not only is Southern Drawl Band expanding their following regionally in the Southeast by way of touring, radio and television, but they are also receiving considerable attention throughout many other markets in the US. The band’s music is recognized on a national level due to radio play by several renowned internet stations.

In less than two year’s of touring, Southern Drawl Band has generated an amplified fan base reaching 20,000+ around the country and is performing at many of the nation’s leading venues. The band is consistently invited to play for significant events and festivals throughout the country as well. The scope of success for Southern Drawl Band is continually intensifying as each day unfolds and their star is unquestionably on the rise.

Josh Buckley

From the red clay dirt roads of South Alabama comes the next ‘wild eyed southern boy’, Josh Buckley..While spending the last few years racing cars and hopping bars, he has cemented his love for the wide open, foot stomping style of today’s modern country music.. With an old soul to ground him and a young heart to drive him, Josh has spent the last year putting together a band with extremely diverse backgrounds ranging from pop to rock to blues, and of course, Country. A band that truly has no limits was a must to back a guy that refuses to be put into a box, and packaged as just another rock and roll country singer. With his youth being spent listening to father Jerome play the classic country sounds of George, Waylon, and Willie, Josh learned a great appreciation for keeping it real, while realizing it had to be fresh and new.. ” Music is emotion, and I want people to experience all there emotions when they see me play. I want them to feel comfortable, i want them to feel excited, I want them to get so caught up in there emotions that when we finish playing a show, they want to hear it again because it took them somewhere they’ve never been, and they’ve just got to get back there again !” With a high energy show, and a songlist jam packed with current Top 40, as well as classic and line dance country, the room at the top is about to get a little more crowded.

Eric Welford

William Eric Welford, the first born son of Tony and Tianey Welford, was born on October 12, 1989 in Mobile, Alabama.

It seemed from an early age, Eric as friends and family call him, was destined for success.

His father, a progressive country bass player, toured from the coast of Texas to the shores of Florida while his mother was content being “Mom” and singing around the home and their church. Both were astonished at the talent their young son possessed and portrayed.

At the tender age of 12, a guitar was placed in Eric’s hand and thus his journey began.

With a father on the road most of the time, Eric and younger brother Brandon, took care of and entertained Mom with the sound of country music and to the likes of such artist as Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, and Johnny Cash; sounds he listened to with his parents. Music seemed to be a solace; a comfort through hard and lonely times.

Eric then began to develop his own innate sound and style; one more like the newer generation of county artists.

A 2008 graduate of Greene County High School in Leakesville, Mississippi, Welford watched with a heavy heart the war that was raging in the Middle East. After waking one morning, Eric could no longer deny the calling placed upon him. He joined the Army National Guard out of Lucedale, Mississippi 287-EN MAC where he served as a combat engineer, being deployed to Afghanistan in February 2010. Realizing the scars that war can leave, Eric’s commander permitted him to bring along his guitar and agreed to store it in the weapons crate for him. This guitar was the saving grace for many men and women after many long days of serving their country. Eric would sing and bring forth memories of family, memories of “home”.

One evening, a bomb detonated on Eric and his unit; forever changing his life.

After 12 months of serving his country, Eric wanted to return home and not waste a moment in his life! At a mere 25 years of age, he works construction full time, but refuses to give up on the one thing that has remained contstant in his life….. his dream of music.
Eric doesn’t just sing country music he is country music.

Your son with a smoky yet clean tone.
Your brother who’s melody will hit like a good brawl.
Your working man who will sing prayers through the drought only to fall to his knees in thanks when the smell of a good rain is coming on.
Your lover who serenades a guttural moan to a breathy whisper in one smooth note.
Your soldier where loyalty abides as the song that will not escape your mind.
Your country singer with the voice that will burn you like good whiskey and stick sweet like honey.
He is your America.
